Beats and Bass is Exeter university's electronic music society who are dedicated to delivering the finest that Exeter has to offer in electronic music at their bi-weekly club night and via podcasts/radio shows. Beside events the society teaches students to dj, books prestigious and up and coming acts from all over the world and has recently started a series of the first varsity DJ battles across the country.
While a member of the committee I rebranded the society in May 2011. I aimed to create a feeling of boutique / handmade to represent the quaity and vibrance of the society treating each design as an individual project while making them recognisable as part of the "Beats and Bass" brand. We recieved Runner Up 'Best Campaign' from Exeter University for our poster series in 2012 and saw a significant increase in members selling out 95% of our events.
I was president of the society 2012 - 2013. We continued to develop the brand by fostering a sense of community concentrating on making electronic music in the city more accessible. We achieved this by partnering with local artists / musicians / promoters / festivals and using our position to help those interested in a career in music. We were highly commended by the University of Exeter for our tinnitus campaign ‘Sounds for Life’ which was picked up a wide range of local press, the BBC and trended on Reddit.
